Is Google AdSense the best money maker on the internet?
You read a lot about people saying that Google AdSense is the best money maker on the internet. So, can you make money with AdSense? And more importantly, can you make a lot of money with AdSense?
Using examples like ProBlogger, John Chow and Shoemoney the overwhelming response would be yes, and lots of it. But there are a lot of people that are making pennies with AdSense.
So, what gives?
Well, according to a post on Blogger Unleashed, you can make some hella cash with AdSense if you know how to use it. Check out the video at the link for more info. After my crappy AdSense month last month I have definitely already watched this video.
The Google AdSense conclusion
Well, after a week I finally got a response from the Google AdSense team. Unfortunately they could not give any real insight on how to fix the problem
Here is an excerpt of the email I got from them,
Thanks for your patience while we investigated this matter. I understand you are concerned about the fact that public service ads are appearing on your site instead of paid ads. Our specialists investigated and found that
pornographic links have been injected into the bottom of your pages. These links are only visible to web crawlers so you may not see them if you view the source of your pages. Because our system does not return ads to pages detected to have adult content, ads will not appear until the links are removed. These links may have been placed on your site without your knowledge in an attempt to boost other sites’ search engine rank. We’d recommend that you contact your webmaster to fix any site vulnerabilities which may have allowed the links to be placed on your site. For more information about security for webmasters, see
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/09/quick -security-checklist-for -webmasters.html.
You may also with to perform a search for results related to “wordpress spam injection” for more information about the issue.Once the links have been successfully removed, paid ads should start appearing again within a week.
For additional questions, I’d encourage you to visit the AdSense Help Center ( http://www.google.com/adsense_help ) or the official AdSense blog ( http://adsense.blogspot.com ?utm_source=txft ). Alternatively, feel free
to post your question on the AdSense Help Forum ( http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help?utm_source=txft ).
Now, on some of the sites I was able to take out some coding in the footer of the theme and then my AdsSense ads showed up immediately. I was not so lucky with my other sites. And hello - within a week?!? They should appear within a week?!? That is so not user friendly Google!
After much research I discovered that using a free theme like this one is what can get you those spammy links in the footer. So, unless you know php and such you have to end up paying for a premium theme from someone.
I also took the afternoon today to upgrade all of my blogs to Wordpress 2.3.3 and I have also installed the Bad Behavior plugin as a means to prevent any more spammy links from showing up on the page. Oy. Sadly, that cut into my peso makin’ time today.
A Google Adsense update
If you recall I was having some issues with Google Adsense showing PSAs on a few of my sites for no good reason. So, I bit the bullet and sent them an email about it over the weekend.
My first reply from them came quickly. It was one of those canned responses.
I replied and got another reply on Feb. 3rd that my case was being “escalated to a specialist.” It is now the night of the 6th and I am still showing PSAs on several sites. That is seriously hurting my peso making. ¡No me gusta!
More AdSense tomfoolery
This site has AdSense. It is actually showing ads. No one is clicking on ads on this site. I have three sites that make me a fair enough amount on AdSense. All three of them are showing PSAs instead of ads. This little Google tomfoolery started mid-January. I thought it might fix itself. Instead more and more of my sites are now showing PSAs.
So, I headed over to the AdSense Google Group.
Apparently, I am not the only person experiencing this little issue. Loads of others are too. One person said it was because they had not done that silly little phone verification. So, I did that. One person said it was because they had not entered their PIN. I did that way back. And one person was told that they did not have enough text on the page.
I’d like to officially call shenanigans on Google’s tomfoolery and having only PSAs show up in my AdSense blocks on my biggest money-making sites.
And I also took a chance and emailed them about it. I didn’t want to do it. I’ve heard the horror stories. Now I fully expect to have the account closed. It only makes sense since I am close to payout.
Oh Google, you wankers!
AdSense shenanigans
So, I have Google AdSense up on several of my sites. As I have added sites my AdSense earning momentum has been building. By my calculations, I was set to hit the $100 payout by the end of this month. Then the AdSense shenanigans started. My most profitable site started showing Public Service Ads. That means no money making on that site! That seriously puts a cramp in my peso makin’ machine. Here’s hoping that corrects itself sometime soon.
Peso Makin’ Methods Currently In Use
As I have mentioned before, I do have some other sites that are currently making quite a few pesos each month. However, with the start of this site I have vowed to try out some new peso makin’ avenues.
So, as of now, here are the ways I am trying to make more money online this month.
First across several of my sites I am utilizing the services that send you cash for writing up short little reviews. I think we all know the names of these places and I am not going to write about them as I do not want spanked by the almight Google gods.
I also have several freebie Cafe Press stores that make sales semi-regularly. Whenever I think of something funny or offensive I throw it up on Cafe Press and wait for other sadistic minds to make me some pesos.
AdSense is currently on almost all of the pages, but that is about to change as it just does not perform well on some of them.
I have a CJ account but have yet to make any affiliate money. This is something that I plan on beginning to experiment with more.
There are also some things that I am thinking about doing. I was looking at the BidXL widget from One Year Goal, which is kind of similar to that topspots widget. Something like that might be of interest to me in the future. And private ads is also something of interest.
One million pesos - here I come, but it just my take me a while cause this burro I’m a’riding is a little slow!
