A tale of the busy little gringo
That would be me - the busy little gringo.
This little gringo has been haulin’ ass to make those pesos. The good news is that there has been progress. The bad news is that I am still not at my needed $250 per day average.
¡Qué lástima!
Seriously.
So, what the chalupa have I been doing? Makin’ pesos!
I have been doing my usual. But I have also been trying out new things.
Smorty
I have tried out Smorty. Not a lot of opps but still enough to make it worth it. Sign up here and help me make some referral pesos.
My review of Smorty
I like Smorty. Since signing up with them earlier this month I have made $54.00. That is not a huge amount, but it is better than my Blogsvertise earnings so far. Plus Smorty pays out way quicker than any of the other places that pay you to blog. The highest dollar opp I have gotten from Smorty has been for $9.00 and the lowest has been $6.00. I think I could make at least $200 a month with Smorty. I admit that I have not been using it all that much this month, so I really do think that my earnings could go up.
My complaint about Smorty is that it logs you out too quickly. I like to leave the places that pay you to blog open in a tab that I can refresh every so often. But with Smorty I have to sign back in like every 15 minutes. And you see a lot of the same advertisers on Smorty that you just got paid to blog about from another site.
My loves about Smorty - Smorty also has a nice referral program. When you sign up you can only give one URL. But after getting approved you can add more and they get approved quickly.
Conclusion - Smorty is a keeper for me!
Blogsvertise
Blech is what I say to that.
My review of Blogsvertise
Big waste of time. Seriously. I have gotten on opp from them so far. And it takes 30 days for payout. And you can’t add more blogs to your account for like ever.
Conclusion - this is not a money maker that I will actively pursue. What a waste.
In Smorty vs Blogsvertise, Smorty wins big!
The key to making money online success - passive income
I have previously identified that I need to average around $250 a day to meet my goal by the end of the year. I will be a peso millionaire!
So far this month my pitiful average per day is around $65. Disgraceful isn’t it? The good news is that I seem to be hitting my stride. That past few days I have made about $120 average per day. And I have been working hardcore!
So, what does this mean?
It means that I need to figure out how to get passive income working for me. And pronto!
Luckily I came across a list of over 20 passive income resources. If you are trying to work on your passive income you will want to check it out as well.
Cafe Press payment options
I was thinking about cashing out my $34.60 in my Cafe Press account since technically it was earned prior to the start of this little goal. So, I was poking around my account on Cafe Press looking to see where to put in my PayPal address.
Guess what? They don’t have that as a payment option! They don’t even have direct deposit as a payment option!
Nope. Just plain old paper checks.
Lame.
Peso makin with baby steps
I mentioned that I was going to ramp up my affiliate program usage. And I have. I have been testing out some links with CJ.com and trying to find things that perform good for me.
I found a lot of stinker links that did nothing.
And I found one that is getting clicks and earning me a little bit of money each time someone sign ups. The performer is MyPoints. But the earnings are muy pequeño.
I have been reading that a lot of people are making major bucks from ClickBank though. Maybe I’ll check into that.
Looking for new ways to make money online?
I certainly know that I am looking for some new ways to make money online. In fact, I am trying to quadruple my online income, like pronto.
If you look at my January online income report you will see that I made $1865.09. There were 31 days in January, so that has be making about $60.16 per day. That is downright shameful. My target per day average is $250.00
Needless to say this gringo is looking for more way to make money online. And as luck would have it, I just came across a list of 101 Ways to Make Money Online.
Unfortunately though I do not really see a lot of things on that list that are particularly appealing. But check it out, you might find something that interests you.
A warning involving queso and a microwave
As you may recall of my goals for this year is to eat my weight in Mexican food each month. It is actually one of my favorite goals that I have given myself.
And because of this goal I feel that it is my duty to issue a warning.
A bowl of queso will explode in the microwave.
There, I said it. I had no idea before today that this could happen. You see, my microwave is a bit temperamental. Sometimes only a few of the numbers work. That means that the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 0 do not work at times. Today was one of those days. No big, right?
Wrong.
I put my little bowl of queso in the microwave with a lid loosely on top for 55 seconds. Took it out and it was still cold in the middle. So, I stirred it and put it in for 55 more seconds. When I opened the microwave what I saw was a queso explosion.
While I did manage to gorge on a fair amount of chips and spicy queso today, I also lost quite a bit of queso in the ‘cheese explosion ‘08.’
Microwave your queso with care kids.
I Want To Make Money Online Faster!
Yes I do.
In fact, this gringo needs to make more money online faster. I recently discovered that I need to basically quadruple my online income. And pronto!
So I was mucho excited to come across the post Here’s How You Can Make Money Online Faster… at Gather Success. Apparently making money online faster is as simple as uno, dos, tres.
What are uno, dos and tres? Traffic, leads and sales (according to señor Gather Success). Wow, it’s so simple, I wish I had thought of it before.
He suggests paid traffic. Um, no thanks, trying to make pesos here hombre, not spend them. I’d rather rely on the powers of The Secret. Okay, not really. But I like the sound of free traffic more.
Are ebooks a good way to make money online?
One thing that is a supposed money maker is the ebook.
I admit it though - this gringo does not really get ebooks. Granted, I have never purchased one. But I get the impression that ebooks are basically a bunch of blog posts all wrapped up in one compact little PDF. However, people make money on them. Maybe I should try it too.
I have Microsoft Word. I have Adobe Acrobat. And I have some tequila. So it looks like I am ready to go with this whole ebook thing.
Money Saving Mom had a post on writing, producing and selling an ebook. Actually it appears it is a series and the link I have provided is to the first part of the series.
What could I write about? Well, I suppose I could write about how I went from a broke gringo to a peso millionaire. Of course, that would fall more along the lines of fortune telling since I am not actually a peso millionaire yet.
I could always write an ebook on how to effectively communicate in Spanglish. Do people buy snarky humor ebooks? Cause I’d hate to put in all of that work and have no pesos to show for it.
Buy crap from Cafe Press; I make pesos - how beautiful
In my quest for more passive income I have added a couple of new designs to Cafe Press.
Introducing the Peso Millionaire Cafe Press store:
Everyone needs this yard sign. Or you could go with a more conservative t-shirt or button. Whatever.
Just buy some of the Cafe Press crap so I can make some pesos. Or trick your friends into buying it.
Will I be making more pesos soon?
This gringo just got word today that I was approved for both of the programs I mentioned. Yes, Smorty and Blogsvertise showed this gringo a little lovin’ today.
I signed into Smorty and got excited to see three $6.00 opportunities. Then I read a comment by lulugal11 that rained all over this gringo’s parade. Lulugal11 mentioned that the sites did not pay much. Do you know how sad that is to this gringo? Imagine breaking open a piñata and having dentures falling out when you were expecting loads of candy. Used dentures at that.
Yet, this gringo will be okay. Used dentures have uses too. So, in other words, I’ll take those $6.00 opportunities while they are there.
